Those Letters Actually Mean Something! – Freelance Sites, Tools of the Trade Series
The first time I viewed this website I thought I had entered another world. I’m not extremely familiar with PHP, ASP, C/C++ and those other letters that I thought were just initials, they actually mean something. In researching and looking at this website, I realize other people DO understand those terms, and for them www.Scriptlance.com is a great website. This is a web site for “Connecting Businesses with Programmers”, but includes opportunities for many other areas of freelancing.
The overall appearance is what I consider eye appealing, and while it has a lot of “stuff” on the home page, it is laid out well and easy to read. The colors are bright but not obnoxious, and the layout is very organized and understandable. The information given in regards to the projects is the Project Name, Job Type, Budget, Bid, Avg. Bid, and when the job was posted.
On the home page there are many different tabs and sections you can visit. On the left hand side they have an area to login, plus listings of their Services and Features available. They also have the top 20 Latest Projects and Popular New Projects. Those new projects included Swoopo, Twitter (Have you twittered today?) and iphone applications, of which I thought they had enough. Anyway, the site lists the projects by sections. They have Featured Projects, Urgent Projects, Big Budget Projects (some really nice budgets!), a section for Job Listings, which really messed up the whole ‘Project” theme and then it ends with the 10 Latest Projects. There is another 20 Latest Projects listed on the left hand side which seems to be redundant since the top 10 are the same, but emphasis is sometimes good.
I had to laugh at myself when I clicked a programming job someone needed, I might as well have been reading French, while I can read the words, I certainly can’t figure out what the job requests. I will say, however, this site did motivate me to learn more about what else I DON’T know. Not to be completely defeated, there are a few categories I do understand and could apply for so the website is certainly worth exploring.
This is a really great freelancing job site, especially if you are a programmer or web designer. It has plenty to offer, resources to view and massive amounts of jobs to pursue. I would recommend it to any freelancer, not just those who read initials and know what they mean! Now, GSFJ – translated means- GO SEARCH FOR JOBS!
Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.
