At first glance, www.freelanceswitch.com seems to be a no nonsense tidy website with not a great deal to offer. However, once you start exploring this site, there are plenty of articles to read, jobs to search and resources to be found. This is a well designed, yet simply designed website. There isn’t a great amount of clutter on the opening page, which seems to be the Blog page, since there is no official Home page, and the colors give the site a professional look. The fonts are large, so I didn’t find myself squinting to read anything, and that’s a pleasant change. Also, in each area that I searched, everything again was oversized, so it made the reading quite easy.

There are six areas to explore each with its own colors and design. When you go to the Job Board, there are only six categories from which to choose. Each category, once highlighted, tells the number of jobs available in that area, which is always interesting, whether helpful or not. There is a user forum which gives freelancers the option to communicate with others and perhaps learn more about particular companies, or jobs. They also have a resource section, as well as blog articles to read and podcasts to download. The drawback to the forums, podcasts and freelance book however, is that after receiving a compelling teaser; to post in the forum, listen or download the podcasts, you must subscribe. The cost for a subscription is $7.00 a month, which can be canceled at any time, but again, you must subscribe before even being able to apply for a project. I will say I was tempted to subscribe, because the Job Board looked like it had some really good opportunities.

As stated earlier, this is a nice easy website to explore and view. If you are looking for projects in the area of Design, Development, Writing, Illustration, Flash, or 19 other miscellaneous jobs, this website might just be worth switching to.
