Appearances Can Be Deceitful – Freelance Sites, Tools of the Trade Series
From first glance, www.contractedwork.com looks like an advertising site. It just doesn’t resemble MY idea of a freelance site. My opinion being stated, this is a website with nine different categories of jobs available, with many sub-categories listed when you decide on what you want to search. After clicking, you are taken to two simple columns, one for Posted Projects and one for “Subscribe to Bid”. You do have to have a subscription to bid on a job. The subscriptions range from $14.95 to $24.95 a month. The monthly basic subscription allows buyers to contact you by email or message board and gives you a profile, portfolio pages and secondary listings on Smarthunt.com and various e-stores. The Gold level gives you the same benefits but gives you prominent listings on Smarthunt.com and various e-stores. Either way you are paying to bid on a job with the chance of being hired. The jobs listed have the bid, the expiration date, the amount of the bid, and the number of bids placed, information always good to know.
One nice thing about this website is that you can look up jobs by state, even if they are freelance jobs. One in my area gave good details about the company, which I wasn’t even aware existed in my little city, so that is a plus when finding opportunities in your area. When looking at jobs by state, you can be sent to a link website entitled Smarthunt.com. This is a job site and not a freelance site, but opportunities are opportunities and again, it is in your area so that is always helpful. This website does not have a section for most recent postings which I find to be a disadvantage although I really can’t give a good reason why! Also, at the bottom of the page there is a section called Channels that will again take you to the smarthunt.com website, but instead of choosing by state, you can choose by category.
An overwhelming aspect of this site is that when I clicked on “View All Listings in this Category” the entire page was filled with postings, and then at the bottom there were 250 more pages to be viewed. One category actually had more than 900 pages to view. While I would imagine that most of those earlier pages had expired, one would be curious and could spend way too much time looking at all the pages.
Overall, www.contractedwork.com is a decent website to view, even if it is very simple and still doesn’t look like your “regular” freelance site. It could just be the different site that helps land you that freelance job you are looking for!
Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.

Greetings Freddie,
I have recently acquired these two sites…contractedwork and Smarthunt. I thank you for your write up…I’m not to jazzed on the title, however you did a nice job on the review.
I’ve owned these sites since May of this year, and I’m scrambling to update them…things take time. If you could give me any insight I would appreciate it.
