I have to admit I had mixed opinions on this site before I ever started to review it. I have read reviews positive and negative regarding www.GetaCoder.com , so I wasn’t sure what to expect. At first glance, it seemed to be a pretty basic website with a great number of jobs to offer and a whole lot of areas to explore. It is designed well and seems to be easy to navigate.
This site has seventeen categories from which to choose, everything from Web Development to Administrative Support. The number of jobs available is listed next to each category. Under the categories there is a section of projects available, which are listed by most recent date. You can also search specific areas for jobs. There are two options for membership. The free account charges the buyer a project fee after selecting a coder and the provider has to pay a fee when they accept, plus there is a waiting period of 20 days to withdraw earnings from the escrow account. The paid membership is $7.95 a month and buyers don’t have to pay a fee, they get a small discount and only have to wait 5 days to withdraw funds. It really sounds like the paid membership is the way to go.
There were a couple of things I found peculiar about the site. Jobs are offered in over 200 countries which, of course, is a good thing, but there a statement on the homepage I found unnecessary: “ Outsource projects to your home country or to countries where labor is cheap. “ While I understand what the statement is saying, it seems it could have been reworded to be positive in some manner. Also, they have added two new sections, one which lists the Blacklisted sites, (I didn’t know they had blacklists for URL, so I learned something for the day), and an article section where anyone can submit articles. While there were articles I found to be relevant to their categories, some articles had absolutely NOTHING to do with finding a job or anything closely related. Oh well, probably wouldn’t frequent the article section much. I’m sure if you searched long enough you would find helpful articles.
The site www.GetaCoder.com really offers a great amount of jobs and possibilities for those going the freelance route. It would probably be worth the time to search this website and attempt to find that great freelancing “gig”!
Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.
