A Nation of Possibilities – Freelance Sites, Tools of the Trade Series

Let me start by saying, that www.TheFreelanceNation.com is not a website within itself. As I thought of the word “Nation” I picture a mixture of many people, things, area, etc. This is exactly what this site reminds me of. It has a little bit of everything displayed in a wide variety of colors (many of which I don’t think blend or match but…) It is an umbrella website to 119 Freelance jobs boards in various cities or sites.
Maybe it was just early in the day, but I didn’t find this site to be easily navigated. Many of the “buttons” took me nowhere and I couldn’t decide whether it was because I wasn’t registered, or that’s just the way it was. I found a few jobs, and you can pick a city to search in, which is convenient if you want to pursue jobs in a particular location, but there was never a place I found to list the total projects available, or most recently posted. When you select a category, you have the option of looking at “Freelance Nation Projects” or “More Jobs Here”. If you click on the latter, you can link to the website Simply Hired which is more location oriented. Of course, the more options the better!
One nice thing about this website site is that you can customize your subscription cost. Your cost depends on how many categories, sub categories and profiles you would There are also options for paying monthly, quarterly or annually. For those just wanted small jobs or not wanting to invest a great deal of money, this flexibility is good. You do have to be registered to bid on projects.
Overall, www.theFreelanceNation.com is a relatively new website, just posted in 2007 so I would think it will have many improvements to come. It might be a site worth visiting occasionally, with updating; you might just find it becomes a “Nation” of various job possibilities.
Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.

Thank you for taking the time to critique our site. I found your comments to be very accurate and, honestly, we totally agree with you!
In fact, as the founder of the company, I think you were way too nice!
We are not happy with the results and as such, quit marketing the site in January and have been working hard to completely redo the programming, design, UI and business model.
We are making it a lot more simple and intuitive.
The new Beta site will launch in roughly 2.5 weeks. I was actually installing the new content when I received the Google Alert (Freelance Nation).
You see, our vision remains the same – to build a service for freelancers that focuses on their needs. We have heard the cries of how international competition and crowd sourcing are killing U.S. freelancers, so TFN integrates features like blind bidding, customizable pricing and protection from international pricing pressures. (We only cater to U.S. freelancers.)
You can read more of our philosophy, features and benefits here.

Once the Beta site goes live, you can rest assured you will be one of the first people we contact to get your feedback and re-evaluation.
