Don’t Get Lost In the Crowd – Freelance Sites, Tools of the Trade Series

I know I said in my last review that when I clicked “ABOUT US” on the particular website I was viewing, it took me to a completely different site. I was going to review that site today; however, every cute icon I clicked on came up with nothing. Needless to say, I went to Plan B.
I found (I know it’s been there, I just found it) a site called www.designcrowd.com. The title is not deceiving; it is a Web Design job site, “A Freelance Job Forum, built for freelancers, run by freelancers”. It’s another site with what I consider to be a “busy” home page; a whole lot to take on when you first open the web page.
Parts of this site I wasn’t crazy about, mainly because if there is a category listed, I want to be able to click on it and go to jobs in that category. Such was not the case with the first set of categories, when you click on those it takes you to Ads by Google. If you want specific categories, they are listed in the table style sections of the website. At that point, it becomes easy to navigate; however, my tendency is always to click on those first buttons I see in a line, not columns down the page. Just habit I suppose!
This site does have a forum which seems to be heavily traveled. It also has a calendar, which I haven’t seen before, but when I tried to go see what that was about, it told me I wasn’t logged in (yes, I was!) I logged out, left the page and logged back in and I got to the calendar but when I clicked on a day, I received the same message. So sorry, can’t tell what the calendar feature is, I bet it’s interesting though! You do have to register, which is free, to have access to most things on the site, but every time I tried to go somewhere, it continued to tell me I was not logged in.
So while, I am sure this website has much to offer in the Web Design and Programming field, I just couldn’t seem to get to it! There are plenty of people who are active on this website and the forum, so someone is having luck. It would probably be worth your while to at least visit the site and see what www.DesignCrowd.com has to offer. Best of luck in that freelance job search!
Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.
