JournalismJobs.com – Freelance Sites, Tools of the Trade Series
Freelance writers seem to have the same complaint when it comes to finding writing jobs online. The competition for bidding freelance work can be stiff, not to mention the anxiety and doubt involved as to when and where the income will come rolling in. Writers tell me it’s the “waiting game” that gets the best of them. With this complaint in mind, I decided to do a bit of research on the freelance writing sites out there on the vast world wide web.
After searching through a ton of websites geared toward freelance opportunities for the writer, I came across JournalismJobs.com. This site is free for jobseekers. Furthermore, there are no “bidding wars” in order to grab a great writing job!
This site was founded in August 1998 by Dan Rohn, a former copy editor and writer with The Washington Post, editor with America Online, and Washington, D.C.-based stringer for Money Magazine. JournalismJobs.com is the largest and most-visited resource for journalism jobs, and receives between 2.5 to 3 million page views a month. Needless to say, posting a resume on this site gives the writer massive exposure to some of the countries largest and well-known journalism employers.
Just a few of the companies that have utilized journalismjobs.com are ESPN, Time Inc., MSNBC, USA Today, Dallas Morning News, C-Span, PBS, Fox News Channel, CNN, Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, National Geographic Magazine, G+J USA Publishing, Boston Globe, New York Times and a multitude of others.
If you are a writer, whether your specialty is simple article writing, news journalism or technical writing, JournalismJobs.com is probably the best site you will ever find!
Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.
