Designer/Developer who is very motivated and excited about working for a young, profitable company in the fast paced online industry. This position is a freelance position to start, but has full-time potential if you are a good fit so you should have an interest in a full-time position as well. You can work from home while freelance, but will need to come into our Pasadena office for occasional meetings.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for all creative output from the Marketing department, such as weekly promotional email campaigns (design and code), affiliate banners, landing pages (design and code), promotional ads, package inserts, direct mail pieces, logos, etc. We have 2 other full-time designers working on the websites, so you will be focused on Marketing needs.

Requirements:
• Strong design portfolio with 3+ years of Web design AND Email design experience
• Fluency in Web design tools (Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, Dreamweaver)
• 3+ years of hand-coded XHTML/CSS, including knowledge of CSS2-based tableless layouts
• Familiarity with Web standards and best design and usability practices
• Ability to create code and troubleshoot for all platforms and major browsers (Firefox, IE6/7, Safari)

Candidate must be:
• Self-motivated, driven, able to articulate his/her vision
• Capable of working independently as well as part of a team
• Able to come up with multiple creative solutions and be open to other suggestions (think outside of the box)
• Willing to take direction
• Able to work in a fast-pace environment, multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines
• Up on Email marketing best practices

iPhone & Web : Visual UI Designer – Freelance/Contract
We are looking for one or two mid- to senior-level designers to help update our app and develop companion products as well as websites. (for both PC and mobile platforms)

Experience/Qualifications:
• 3 or more years of proven commercial experience in digital design.
• Solid foundation in typography, layout, and general design.
• Experience designing for iPhone apps or other mobile platforms.
• Ability to communicate clearly.
• Expert skill in Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Drive to work independently as well as collaborate with our team.
• Bonus: In-depth understanding of HTML, CSS.

Key Responsibilities:
• Create and present effective solutions for iPhone app design.
• Follow a design brief and work consistently with existing brand identity.
• Give accurate, up-to-date time estimates for project components.
• Prepare and refine assets according to detailed specs.
• Help create Information Architecture and User Interface wireframes.
• Work on presentation documents for investors and advertisers.
• Work on our websites.
• QA all work.

Compensation will be based on experience. You must be able to work at our office in Park Slope (Brooklyn, NY) at least 3 days a week.

We’re looking for a hard worker that appreciates the unique challenges that must be solved. From the minutia of production work to high-level conceptualization of brand positioning. As a small shop, everyone on staff does it all. We all get our hands dirty.

The Technical:
• 4+ years experience (freelance & agency preferred)
• B.A. or B.F.A in Design or related field
• Adobe CS+ experience required.
• Working knowledge & experience with print design & production.
• Thorough working knowledge of front-end web development is required. Although this position does not require the execution. Basically, if you design for it, you must know it.
• Macromedia Flash & AS2/3 is a plus but not necessary.
• Demonstrate expertise and passion in typography, layout, and color
• Demonstrated ability of hierarchical, dynamic page design and layout is required.
• Fully realize the importance of solid information architecture.

The Mental:

• Must have excellent problem solving skills and love challenges.
• Must be self-motivated, and able to multi-task.
• Must be able to take initiative to be productive and efficient.
• Function independently and be able to work as a member of the team.
• Strong communication skills (both in person & in writing) while interacting with individuals with a range of technical understanding.
• Work with web developer(s) on site design implementation.
