Job Description:
The Worcester Guild of the Catholic Medical Association is looking to hire a recent college grad with a strong Catholic faith, who’s a good listener, and has good writing skills. The job will last 12 weeks and involve recording interviews with Catholic doctors and writing up their stories for a book. The purpose of the book will be to tell the stories of  Catholic physicians who have put their faith into action. The writer will be paid as an independent contractor and credited as a co-author once the book is published, but will not be eligible to receive royalties. Applicants must have their own transportation and a laptop computer. Interested applicants should send a resume and 500 word autobiographical essay on the subject: “My Life in Faith.”

Summary:

As a Freelance Creative Recruiter, you will manage the full recruiting cycle from candidate identification and evaluation to offer negotiation and closing. You will need to be very proficient in candidate generation and sourcing. You will recruit for a wide range of positions with a variety of levels. The position requires superior communication skills and excellent organizational abilities with a strong attention to detail. In performing the essential functions of this role, the work environment is fast-paced, demanding and team-based.

Responsibilities:

• Manage overall recruiting process, partner with hiring managers to develop recruiting strategies for long/short term hiring goals

• Source and screen qualified candidates, leverage Internet Job Boards, employee referrals, internet search engines, Web resume mining techniques, and direct cold calling

• Manage candidates seamlessly through the interview process, set expectations, provide feedback, negotiate and close all offers

• Provide regular updates to hiring managers on recruiting status of position

• Participate in hiring discussions, gather and consolidate feedback

• Gather and consolidate candidate feedback from interview team members and provide to hiring manager or team to make hiring decision

• Check references, conduct background checks, make offer and negotiate as necessary

Qualifications:

• MUST HAVE CREATIVE RECRUITING EXPERIENCE IN AN INTERACTIVE ENVIORNMENT
Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of experience

• Experience recruiting candidates in a professional services setting desired, advertising agency experience is a plus

• Demonstrated success in developing sourcing strategies, direct sourcing and creative candidate generation

• Strong account management skills with the ability to partner with and coach hiring managers on the recruiting process

• Proficient with applicant tracking systems, spreadsheets, Internet and email software

• Effective oral and written communication skills required

• Must be able to demonstrate analytical skills, solid strategic thinking and teamwork

Freelance Editor

Freelance Editor are part of the team responsible for editing and updating content for the Fox site and implementing daily content packages and live event coverage.

Responsibilities:
– Evaluates content and makes story selections from a variety of sources: staff writers, wire services and content partners;
– Copy editing and headline writing under intense minute-by-minute deadline conditions;
– Monitoring wire feeds and other outside sources to ensure the latest sports news is represented;
– Work with the team at 1440 Sepulveda by e-mail and phone to ensure that the freshest and most timely video offerings are incorporated onto the site.
– Builds content packages using video, photos, stories, fantasy and community (chats), and publishes them to the web using our content management system (CMS);
– Responsible for conceiving and inserting “added value/flair” into story-level pages (things such as polls, charts, photos, chat links);
– Generate new content ideas, features and other enhancements to the site;
– Staff editors with sport-specific responsibilities serve as grassroots-level liaisons with FBC talent (example: NASCAR editor Jorge Mondaca works with Van Colley and the NASCAR on FOX talent to develop their columns and videos ).

Requirements:
– 4+ years of editorial experience required, preferably in the online medium;
– Top candidates will have strong communication skills — both written and verbal and excellent organizational skills (the ability to prioritize projects under tight deadlines);
– Proven sports knowledge that lends itself to sound news judgment required;
– BS/BA in Journalism, English or a related degree strongly preferred;
– Must also have strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required. Some knowledge of Photoshop and HTML strongly preferred.
