Position Summary:
The Woodrow Wilson School’s Institutions for Fragile States program seeks an individual to copy-edit interview transcripts, case studies, and web text on a freelance basis.
Essential Qualifications:
The person selected must be conversant with the AP Stylesheet, have exceptional writing skills, and possess ability to screen text to meet various clearance requirements. Should have sustained past experience as an editor with at least one other organization and some knowledge of international affairs or international development. Initial workload at least half-time, tapering to one-third after 2-3 months. Lime Wire LLC is looking for a Visual Designer. The role of a visual designer is to balance usability with desirability using color, style, type, icons, information design and visual hierarchy to indicate relationships, communicate about brand, and hint at the behavior of LimeWire. You will be working closely with user experience designers and user interface developers to iteratively refine a visual system that supports the interaction and makes people enjoy spending time with LimeWire. You should be able to present your design rationale based on the brand, user goals, and usability, rather than personal opinion.
Responsibilities:
* Work with and design desktop and web applications
* Take functioning Flash prototypes and define several visual styles for them
* Create a visual language that helps achieve brand and user goals
Requirements:
* B.S. in graphic design, communication design, information design, or other visual arts.
* Proven ability to act as a leader in communicating design rationale
* Can crank out multiple unique stylistic approaches to a problem
* Understanding of interface and interaction design principles
* Can communicate clearly about design, from presentations to writing style guides
* Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of common GUI technologies
* Expert in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
