One of the many ways to Market Yourself is to establish a website.  Several organizations will allow a website to be created for little or no cost at all. When establishing a website, there are some basic rules to follow.

First, the freelancer must come up with a good idea or theme for their website. They should choose something that identifies what the product or service they offer is all about, something they have knowledge about and in which they are interested.

Next, the freelancer must select a name for their site. The name should identify what the service or product is that they are offering. The name should be short and to the point; something people will remember and something the search engines will pick up. By choosing a .com address over a .org address it shows that the freelancer has been around for awhile, enticing potential customers to choose their product for that reason.

After the site has been established, make sure your material gets published quickly rather than leaving the site under construction. When material is being published, keep in mind that there will be surfers from all walks of life reading the material and that some may not share the same values. Also remember to make your site distinctive.  The freelancer always wants to differentiate themselves from their competitors.

It can take months, even years to build traffic, but if the basic rules are followed the freelancer will be on their way to having another effective way of marketing their products or services.
