Freelance Camps
Freelance Camps
Freelancecamp.org
There is a great new concept out there to have some face time with potential clients and fellow freelancers. Check out www.freelancecamp.org and see how you can jump onboard the exciting ride that takes you headfirst into the world of freelancing.
Freelance camps can be set up by anyone and the site is the home base for fellow freelancers to see the details of when and where. It’s an informal setting where you can brainstorm and network all the various areas of freelancing. The site has a somewhat “Woodstocky” feel with the casual air of nonconformity and a hearty appreciation for uniqueness. No stuffy boardrooms or stress filled meetings, just an honest approach to get in touch with your inner freelancer.
Some camps are free and some have a slight fee to cover basic overhead, with any remaining money being donated to the host’s charity of choice. Most camps include breakfast, lunch and an after party. The camps are held at locations that may or may not have service for all your electronics. Anyone can set up a freelance camp through the website.
The next camp scheduled is November 5, 2009, in Washington, DC. October, 2009, is a busy month for camps with several being held in Germany, Las Vegas, NV, USA, Reno, NV, USA and Sacramento, CA, USA. Although the locations of the camps are spread out globally, the upside is you can go to the site today and start the process of organizing one in your neighborhood!! Happy Camping!!
Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.
