We are looking for on-site freelance copy editors/proofreaders with a commitment to excellence for upcoming educational projects. Copyeditors at Quarasan are responsible for copyediting and proofreading tasks across multiple projects in a deadline-driven team environment. Previous experience with educational publishing required. Must be available to work on-site.
Job Requirements
• Previous experience with Pre K-12 copy editing/proofreading on Reading/Language Arts, Science, Math, and/or Social Studies projects
• Reading/Language Arts experience/knowledge a must (additional exposure to other content areas preferred)
• Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style
• Able to work with Adobe Acrobat
• Command of English grammar and usage
• Attention to detail

This position is responsible for the design and implementation of creative content. Requires visual problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to produce and execute a variety of creative solutions. It requires a sophisticated design sensibility coupled with knowledge of all aspects of Web application design.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with the Creative team to design UI and build Flash prototypes for Nordstrom.com
Participate in concepting and analysis of new web site features with the Creative teams
Work with producers, editors, designers, back-end web developers and IT to develop and implement projects
Prioritize daily workflow and demands on quality, time, and resources
Design and layout e-commerce site web pages
Work in PhotoShop to manipulate imagery to meet design/project parameters
Implement design revisions in a timely manner
Move smoothly and quickly between projects with diverse parameters and objectives
Work closely with creative team and project team to meet project objectives and deadlines
Ability to function well in a high-stress, high-volume, fast-changing work environment and the ability to work on multiple time-critical issues
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or equivalent preferred
5+ years of experience in web design and user interface design
3+ years professional experience developing in Flash and ActionScript
A strong understanding of how HTML, AJAX, and other web-related technology, effect design and layout
Expertise in typography, information design, image creation and manipulation
The ability to quickly provide alternative solutions to design challenges where appropriate and requested
The ability to effectively balance multiple projects and deadlines
Strong communication skills
Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
High level of proficiency in PhotoShop (required)
Proficiency in Illustrator or Freehand
Working knowledge of the MAC operating system and understanding of navigating server destinations
High level proficiency in Flash including ActionScript (required)
