We are looking for freelance senior graphic designers to work in-house. As a freelance senior designer you will develop prototype designs, create page-for-page design layouts, and art direct illustration and photography for textbooks.  Designers are responsible for all design functions on assigned projects, meeting schedule dates, and working within budget.

Job Requirements
• B.A. in Graphic Design or Communication Arts certificate or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a graphic designer in a publishing environment.
• Portfolio work that demonstrates a sound understanding of layout, typography, color, composition, electronic and traditional 2–4/c pre-press and 1–6 color offset printing.
• Highly creative design sensibilities and a proven ability to translate concepts into strong visual solutions
• Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• Experience in Ed Publishing or designing for children ideal but not essential

Job Purpose:
Prepares written content by researching, organizing, and composing information; developing creative ideas; verifying facts; following style, grammar, and legal guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Plans writing content by studying and clarifying requests; developing creative ideas; identifying research sources.
• Research and write communications pieces and projects including: website content, introductory business material, brochures, direct mail pieces, targeted letters, flyers, e-newsletter, phone scripts, surveys, presentations,
• Conduct interviews with members, employers, staff and other stakeholders to create pieces, newsletters articles, etc.
• Prepares content by determining best style for presenting information; writing content following style, grammar, and legal guidelines; preparing references and citations.

What we require:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field
• 2 or more years of copy writing experience (portfolio samples required)
• Knowledge of content management tools helpful
• Highly motivated self starter
• Deadline conscious
• Critical eye for details
• Ability to incorporate suggestions and grow great ideas
• Proficient with Microsoft office products
• Excellent people skills and an upbeat attitude
• SEO Experience and understanding a plus
