Responsibilities include:
Update and manage social media presence on sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, blogs, etc. Be able to give suggestions for SEO on our web site. Regular reports and feedback are required.

Qualifications and Experience: Must have excellent computer, verbal and communication skills. Must be reliable. Experience preferred.

Description:

ActiveState Software is looking for a unique individual for a 3 month contract who loves surfing the web, checking out sites, downloading demo and trial products, and understands technical software products. If you have experience testing and QA’ing software combined with a forensic detective type mentality then your background would be highly suitable for this position.

Your mandate is simple – search the web worldwide and find companies who are using in their products ActiveState’s language distributions (aka ActivePerl, ActiveTcl, and ActivePython). To get you started we will provide you the software tools to equip you to deliver on the mandate plus some training, as well as point you to possible sites where you can find what we are looking for. The rest is up to you and your creativity and thirst to achieve the mandate. You will be paid an hourly rate + a success fee for each product/company you find that is using our product in their product (subject to a few conditions to be specified if you are the successful hire). As part of your assignment you will be tasked with keeping a master report of all of the sites you tracked and what you found. As well when you find a product/company that is using our product you will need to create a report providing screenshots, links, documentation as well as a DVD image that proves the company is using either ActivePerl, ActiveTcl, or ActivePython within their product(s) – the evidence.

This role can be done when you want and where you want, thus it is ideal for a university student or someone who is doing technical support and or testing type roles during the day and is looking to make some extra income.

Skills required:

- Know how to use a web browser and use the internet to request downloads
- Basic use of other system/browser features (ie printing, screen dumps, Office docs for reporting, email)
- Use of software to create DVD’s or DVD images
- Proficient with installing software on Windows & Linux
- Knowledge and use of the “command line”
- Ability to identify suitable target products and/or target industry groups
- Familiarity with system directory layouts on Windows, and possibly other platforms
- Some experience/knowledge with ActiveState’s products would help with getting up to speed, but not necessary.
- Ability to interpret the reports to assist you to dig further
- Able to work unsupervised and the ability to expand the role based on your initiative to meet the position mandate
