As a freelancer, it’s not unusual to periodically become overwhelmed with aspects of the job. Perhaps you have a difficult client or trouble hitting your financial goals. Whatever your conundrum is, your own personal mentor can help you through the situation. Score is a foundation partnered with the small business association to offer free advice, counseling and resources for any small business. They have been established since 1964 and just since last year, over 500 thousand people were helped by the organization. Each year Score helps create nearly 20,000 new small businesses.
With 364 chapters of the organization, it shouldn’t be difficult for you to find one near you. I played around in the locator section putting in various zip codes from all over the country and every one brought up at least four locations.
Free, confidential advice is available to you 24/7 with their online mentoring service or you can be paired up with a volunteer right in your community for face to face interaction. The organization offers both online and onsite workshops. Www.Score.org is packed with information with a how to section, a tool section and a quiz section to help you and your mentor evaluate your business. Every form you can imagine in excel or word or pdf is available in their tools section.
Be sure to check out their success stories. Occupations from both ends of the spectrum are represented in the testimonies of satisfied small business owners. You will find links to government resources that can be a benefit to you. The information within the website is very impressive. Plan on spending a lot of time digging around. It has been a while since I have come across a site with this much to offer; all for free, too.
The foundation is supported by nearly 50 sponsors. You may recognize a few of the names…. HP, UPS, Marriott, AT+T, Wall Street Journal, Veterans Corporation, AARP, and National Business Association to name a few. These are reputable, established companies supporting a good thing. Together they are a part of building the backbone of something that makes this country great; small businesses. Check it out. See what they can do for you.

Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.
