Freelance America Podcasts
Today I found a source for some good, fun, educational entertainment. At Freelance America, each month they have guests on their show from all corners of the freelance industry. The shows are extremely insightful with information on what to do and what not to do as a freelancer. The site has a witty, laid back style where nobody takes themselves too seriously. Who says you have to be stodgy and boring to get things done? I’m with them. A live and learn attitude is sometimes the best way to get ahead.
The site is packed with the issues and occurrences each of us face every day; Discussed by real life freelancers down in the trenches, facing the same things you do. Topics range from how to handle the current job market to marketing basics that aren’t going to break the bank. Peppered in on the site are updates and personal anecdotes from the founder of Freelance America.
They feature a video message board, where you can put your face out there for all visitors to see and hear what you have to say. (Can someone say ‘free publicity’?) Freelance America has a Facebook page too, just another way the whole online networking thing comes into play.
Besides the entertainment and learning value, I see the site as an opportunity to land some business. The folks that interact with this site are just like you. Freelancers. They understand the business and the sometime difficulty of keeping work on the table. Here you have yet another source of potential clients to add to your roster. Make some friends, find some clients, get tips and tricks for your career and take advantage of some shameless plugging of yourself and get involved with the group.

Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.
