Grade A Marketing Part Two
Last week I gave you a brief overview of how you can make money and gain clients by promoting yourself and your knowledge at Prfessor.com. Since then, I have had several conversations with Dave VanHorn, one of the founders of Prfessor.com. Beginning today and in the weeks to come, I will share with you the features of this amazing marketing tool, in detail.
One of the first questions most people ask when presented with something new and exciting, no matter how new or how exciting, is “what’s it going to cost me?” That’s understandable.
We have to be sensible with our hard earned dollars and when you’re a freelancer, sometimes those dollars aren’t quite as plentiful as they used to be.
So let’s break it down.
Say you want to create a site where you or your career is the focus. Both of these items are ‘product’. You want to draw others to your ‘product’. How do you do that?
- Your first step is having a professional, informative site that attracts users and then interacts with them once you get them there. A site that will fit this criteria will cost you anywhere from $3000.00 to $5000.00 to build professionally.
- You want to include a shopping cart. You want your site to have a money handling feature, such as PayPal or a credit card gateway. You want to be able to interact and communicate within your site. A site with these features will cost you up to an additional $1500.00 using professional assistance to integrate everything.
- You want to include an audio player and a video player so you can offer multimedia content in addition to the standard printed essay style information.
- Already, the site is costing approximately six grand. That’s $6000.00, boys and girls. And guess what, you still don’t have any content on your site. The content must still be added. Do you value your time? Factor that into the start up cost (not to mention that you still aren’t ready to go live)and you can easily be looking at nearly $10,000.
- Don’t forget, you will have a lot of visitors to your site that are there to just poke around. If you have any sort of tracking of visitors and you want to follow up, be prepared to waste a lot of time.
TOTAL COST: $833.33/Month

Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.
