Freelance Frontend Web Developer (Off-site)

DESCRIPTION:

Small Demons is currently seeking a freelance front-end developer with extensive JavaScript and XHTML/CSS experience to work with our production team on our upcoming launch. You’ll take a combination of mockup PSDs and optimized sprites to build the front-end that our middle tier and back-end developers to integrate with. The role will be work-from-home, but regular communication with the production team will be needed via IM, email, weekly conference calls and/or in-person meetings (if you happen to live near Santa Monica).

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Fluent in semantic and standard compliant XHTML, jQuery, Ajax and CSS.
  • Experience building complex and graphically precise UI’s with application-like functionality.
  • Experience with Fortune 500 clients and deep sites.
  • Well versed in JavaScript progressive enhancement and CSS degradation for older browsers.
  • Understanding of SEO optimization and browser capabilities / issues.
  • Ability to handle/slice mock PSDs when needed (some but not all will be provided).
  • Familiarity with SVN or other version control systems.
  • Experience in an agile work environment is a plus.
  • Experience with Google Maps API a plus.
  • Experience with the Facebook API a plus.
  • Experience with mobile browser compatibility and techniques a plus
  • Good communicator who isn’t afraid to ask questions or slow to answer them either.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and love technical challenges.
  • Advocate for best practices, great usability, exceptional quality and attention to detail
