Associate Producer

DESCRIPTION:

5by5 Studios, an Internet broadcasting network, home to podcasts like The Pipeline, The Big Web Show, The Conversation, The Dev Show, and more, with over 200,000 downloads per week, is looking for an Associate Producer that can take over some of the post-production duties for our shows. These duties include:

  • Taking multi-track recordings from Apple Logic Pro and editing them into a completed program
  • Providing quick turnaround of these edits
  • Uploading files to our server in the formats dictated
  • Publishing broadcasts and episodes
  • Opportunity for video editing and production

REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will be a self starter, a Mac user who can work from home with his or her own reliable Internet connection and computer; have experience with Apple Logic Pro and other professional multi-track audio environments; a good working knowledge of sound recording, playback, editing, mixing equipment and other soundtrack delivery systems. The candidate should also have excellent hearing, attention to detail and good communication skills. Must possess a creative flair, especially when producing original sound elements or effects. Following directions and working well with others is important, but the candidate needs to be able to get work done without micro-management and in a timely fashion.

The job is part time (about 15 hours a week), but opportunities for growth exist. This is a great way to get started in the Internet broadcast space and to get real-world hands-on experience at a fast-growing broadcast network.

_____________________________________________________________________________Freelance Writers

DESCRIPTION:

Freelancers are the ronins of the writing world, spitting the skulls of readers with word-swords weilded for the highest bidder. Groupon’s editorial department is looking for a few writers with the hardened souls of mercenaries and the tender diction of secret diarists. The one and only qualification for this gig is that you can write well, and in our voice. Groupon is not the Onion or the Daily Bugle. We have a style that works, and need writers who can achieve it effortlessly. If you are not familiar with that style, hello there…now please spend a week reading our writing before you apply. On the logistical side, writers who are vetted into our freelancing pool have a steady stream of work. They can do no less than 10 and no more than 20 write-ups per week, compensated at $22 per write-up. Within that range, they can choose the workload that works for them. The successful candidate will demonstrate a knack for our voice in his or her sample, and will also be able to point to hard evidence of the ability to self-direct and work under deadline.
