Translators Wanted

In order to guarantee high-quality translations for our clients all of our translators must complete our selection process before becoming part of our approved network. In addition to completing our “Translator Application  Form” we also ask that each translator supply a sample translation (of not more than 200 words) for each of the subject areas in which they specialize. This sample portfolio should contain both the source and target texts. REQUIREMENTS: If you are therefore interested in working with us on a freelance basis simply:

  1. Download the “Translator Application Form” here: http://www.stranslations.com/forms/translators.xls,
  2. And return the completed form, along with the sample portfolio, to the e-mail address below.

We will review your application in due course and will contact you when we have an opportunity that matches your talents. We regret but we cannot process applications that do not contain either a completed form or the sample translations. Before you complete the form please note that all of our translators:

  • Are native speakers of the language into which they translate
  • Satisfy at least one of the following EN-15038:2006 requirements in order to demonstrate professional competence:
    • Have completed advanced translation studies (recognised qualification);
    • Hold an equivalent qualification in another specialisation plus a minimum of two years documented experience in translation;
    • Have at least five years of documented professional experience in translation.

Graphic Design Internship for Women’s Health & Empowerment Site/Social Community (Unpaid or For Credit)

DESCRIPTION:

Do you have an undying passion for Graphic Design?  Do you create and design innovative graphics and logos every day, all day? Is designing the perfect image, design, or logo so ingrained you just can’t stop? We seek a highly a motivated individual with experience and fanatical passion graphic design and print design layout. CHIKAGOAN is Chicago’s first and only Women’s Health, Beauty, & Career Information Sharing Website/Blog and Social Community!  We promote our website through integrated organic optimization (SEO), social media optimization (SMO) and community networking/relationship building. The successful candidate will join our internship team as a Graphic Designer and will oversee our company’s website design, logo transition and some print layout design to holistically support our members and company objectives. This internship will afford the selected intern an opportunity to develop new skill sets in a phenomenal and entrepreneurial learning environment.  You will definitely fill your portfolio with relevant, current, and clean work! The Intern(s) will report directly to the Founder/CEO of CHICKAGO, LLC. Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be the eyes and ears of our brand and maintain company objectives as if your own reputation depended on it.
  • Assist in the development of company’s website graphics, logo transition and redevelopment, advertising package design, and some print layout design.
  • Manage all creative projects with an emphasis on company branding, messaging and strategic design.
  • Develop ideas and creative media for print, signage, .logo design, website/web pages, and other marketing collateral as needed.
  • Collaborate to identify creative solutions and strong executions that work for the company and its portfolio of brands.
  • Develop concepts for website/e-newsletter/company promotions look and feel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate Senior or Graduate student currently enrolled in a Graphic Design, Web Development, Digital Media or a related field of study.
  • Be very proficient with Adobe CS3 or 4, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Photoshop CS3 or 4 (a must), Illustrator, Flash, and Acrobat.
  • Related experience from jobs, involvement in on-campus organizations, or other internship is helpful.
  • Great communication is a MUST, as this is an on and off-site internship opportunity.
  • Is eager to meet and exceed objectives and take on more responsibility
  • Ability to communicate results to management and in a fast paced environment.
  • Drive, Energy, Creativity and an Entrepreneurial Spirit.
  • Must possess a high level of discretion and sensitivity to confidential information.

Front-End Developer

DESCRIPTION:

Rockwell Group is looking for a front-end developer to work with our in-house design/markup team to work on a medium-scale “portfolio-type” site.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Expert-level knowledge of javascript
  • Experience with js-frameworks (i.e. jquery)
  • Experience with cross-platform/browser development
  • Experience implementing “video for everybody” (html5 video, with flash fallback)
  • Expert-level knowledge of html/css (and vendor-specific css3 features)
  • Experience with web standards and building solutions using semantic markup and CSS
