DESCRIPTION:

Silne is building an alternative data bureau to help borrowers prove their financial strength. We’re about more than just generating cash and having a cool office with free food. We seek to have a positive impact on society by removing the world’s information asymmetries. We’re doing this with cutting edge analytics & technology. We’re starting with alternative data in the US – this means taking ‘non credit data’ (e.g. mobile phone expenses) and using it to segment loan offerings. Where we go from here is up to you.

The role :

  • A web programmer to lead product development,both design & implementation.
  • Our first product is in alpha ? we need help iterating & rebuilding web and analytical software projects on a regular release cycle.
  • Analyze large messy transactional datasets and automate ETL processes.
  • Location : Anywhere (preference for Boston or New York) you must be willing to travel up to 40% of your time.
  • Significant equity and/or salary competitive with a funded startup to be discussed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • You have 5+ years of experience as a guru programmer and manager in a related field, delivering on tight deadlines and participating in both design and implementation.
  • You have excellent communication and planning skills.
  • You have experience identifying, recruiting, and training skilled software engineers.
  • You are a guru Microsoft web developer; you know everything there is to about SQL/Asp/Silverlight/Ajax/html. You probably participate in online forums.
  • You’re a strong functional web designer, with experience in HTML, Css, Javascript/Jquery/etc.
  • You have a working knowledge across a wide a range of software technologies including SQL/Mysql, C#.Net/Java, Javascript, Ruby, WPF, Analysis services, and you are always looking to learn more.
  • You are task oriented and you work like crazy when needed  you are able to get work done over skype or in seat 23k flying over the atlantic. You love being part of a team and don’t care who said what so long as the product rocks  in fact you can’t sleep until the product rocks.
  • You think it’s all about execution and scalability. Customized solutions make you cringe.
  • You love data and believe that more data, widely and appropriately used, is good for the world. You know what Y = A.K.N means and you want to spend time on A.

Website Theme Designer

DESCRIPTION:

We need someone to design some clean, creative and current wedding website themes. We have some design inspiration on hand to incorporate into new designs as a starting point.

Design to be done in Photoshop. Would prefer someone that can code their own designs, but not required. Designs must be clean, creative and current, yes, different from many of our current offerings.

Lead Ruby on Rails Developer

DESCRIPTION:

Velora Studios is a multimedia design and development studio. We are expanding into more involved projects of our own and building a few new webapps. We are looking for experienced developers that are constantly pushing the industry forward; building webapps that feel like desktop applications. You can be located anywhere in the world. Communication will be through Skype and our project management system.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Be able to build complete web applications on Rails from start to finish.
  • Be an excellent communicator to collaborate with our team of designers and developers.
  • Push the limits of what’s possible with new technologies and make an immediate impact.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with PHP.
  • Subversion and other server side technologies is a plus.
  • Someone that really knows Rails inside out.
  • Someone who is really passionate about apps that both us and our users will love.

We are working on building some awesome apps. Although this is a freelance position we are looking for someone we can build a relationship with and send work to very often on our various webapp projects. Down the road this may turn into a full time position if things work out. Enjoy working with a friendly and motivated team on projects of our own and some client work.
