The Top 4 Ways to Use Social Media Today to Market Your Freelance Business

“Come on people now, smile on your brother. Everybody get together, try to love one another right now” – Youngbloods
Using social media today is not as hard as it looks. It’s better than face to face interaction in some situations. Even the dating scene has turned to social media to meet people. So, what makes social media the best way to market your freelance business?
Business-to-Business Marketing
Social media today represents a lot of business-to-business marketing. Many businesses need customized WordPress sites. Other businesses need social media plans to use for their business. Depending on your business, you will find that Twitter and Facebook are already cornering the market for businesses to reach other businesses looking for their products and services.
Tip: When you use business-to-business marketing, set up a Twitter, Linked In and Facebook Fan Page. Make sure your pages have links back to your site and contact information about your company and services.
Gaining Clients
Working with small businesses and individuals can also work through using social media today. Make it work by posting information relevant to your business on your Twitter and Facebook accounts. Talking about how you feel at that minute, what your kid just did that was so cute, or ten million updates each day is best for your personal accounts. When you are engaging potential clients on Facebook or Twitter, give them information they want to hear about related to your niche.
Tip: Find great content online and Tweet it or link to it on Facebook.
Manage Your Reputation
Chris Garrett brought up an interesting topic on Blog Chat during its normal run Sunday nights on Twitter. Since online searches are replacing resumes, according to Garrett, you should check Google for your name’s reputation. A good reason to do this is that employers will check and so do clients.
Tip: Set up a Google Alert on your name to see what others are saying about you. That way you can respond to anything negative right away.
Set Up a YouTube Channel
YouTube is becoming the next big TV launch for several people in media. Get your freelance business name out as an expert by launching your own channel. If your main freelance business is about writing, you can entertain your audience through interviews, talking about how you write and even doing impromptu questions from people on the street. Have fun with it! The more entertaining you make it, the more people will follow and watch you while telling others about you.
Tip: Be consistent with your YouTube videos. Engage with others in your niche on YouTube to gain followers and recommendations through word of mouth.

Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.
