5 Tips on Writing a Book to Market Your Business

Learning tips on writing a book is a great way to market your business. For starters, not many businesses write a book to gain more targeted clients. “A book is your business card,” Christine Kloser, a New York Times best selling author states.
She is right.
Having a book published boosts your business’ reputation. It doesn’t matter if you self-publish or go through a publishing house.
Tip # 1
Find a subject. Writing a book begins with the problem that your target audience needs solving. If you have a popular blog, you can find what their problem is by listening and seeing what they ask about the most.
Writing a book on that subject will help them because it’s one place they can find complete information. This takes the place of searching through tons of blog posts to find it.
Tip # 2
Change the subject with a different angle. Once you find the subject for writing a book, consider studying what’s published already. Browse Amazon and the New York Times best sellers lists. See what has sold in that subject and niche to find out the angle the author used.
Changing the angle of your book takes boldness. You can figure out how you want to present the subject and take a bold stance on it.
If you are writing a book about social media, for instance, come up with a different approach to it. Maybe you have a different way of explaining how you use social media.
A recent example of a different approach to a subject is “The Heart of Marketing” by Judith Sherven and Jim Sniechowski. They took a different angle to marketing that other marketers do not usually talk about or mention.
Tip # 3
Find the time to write. It’s nice to talk about writing a book. It’s better if you take time to write. Set up a writing schedule for at least thirty minutes each day. Put it in your phone or calendar. Once you write at the same time each day, you will develop a habit. Soon, you will have the book written.
Tip # 4
Keep writing. If you are new to writing a book, you might find it overwhelming and words do not flow easily. One of the tips on writing a book that authors present is that you should keep writing.
That voice of fear often comes and tries to get you to edit before you even finish one page. Keep writing. Save editing for after you download the information from your brain onto the paper, according to Arielle Ford.
Tip # 5
Use a mind map. If ideas for writing a book seem far away and you cannot get in the flow of writing, use a mind map. You can draw one on paper easily to start. Put your main idea in the center and draw branches so it resembles the sun. Write ideas that come from the main idea on each of the branches.
Once you do this and break down the branches into their own mind maps, you will have an outline and table of contents for your book.
When you write your book and have it published, promote it and place the achievement on your website. Using your book to market yourself will speak volumes about your authority in your niche. How can you start today? Post your comments below.
Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.
