Senior Web Designer – Interactive
DESCRIPTION:
Alloy Media + Marketing’s Interactive division (Alloy Digital) is seeking an ambitious Senior Interactive Designer. We’re looking for someone who’s been working for 5+ years in the field, is fluent in the languages of Pop Culture and Technology, and knows not only how to concept and produce, but also explain and sell their vision.
The ideal candidate has a keen understanding of the entire lifecycle of an interactive project and the boundaries and possibilities of the web. You won’t be coding but you should know how a web page is put together. Experience in an agency or media/youth marketing field and as a manager/team leader is desired. Photography skills and experience are a major plus.
Responsibilities
- Management, Mentorship and motivation of creative staff.
- Creating a comprehensive style guide for each of our sites, and enforcing that the look & feel of our sites is maintained.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team to create polished marketing campaigns, including mock-ups for pitching.
- Day to day maintenance/approvals of existing designs.
- Working with Product Managers, Project Managers, Creative Director and other content stakeholders to create new designs.
- Translation of web application wireframes into designs.
- Creation of integrated campaigns, websites and rich media units for Clients.
- Follow the production process to ensure accurate translation of design into code.
- Be a strong voice for design within the division.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Expert graphic designer with extensive experience using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (Flash experience a major plus).
- Background in user experience design is highly preferred.
- Experience developing for modern browsers and degrading sites gracefully for older ones.
- Leadership qualities and strong communication skills.
- Strong multi-tasking skills.
- Attention to detail and quality a must.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to meet deadlines

Senior Web Application Engineer
DESCRIPTION:
SlideShowPro develops software products for web designers, developers and photographers that facilitate the creation of custom slideshows, photo galleries, and portfolio sites. Our content management system (SlideShowPro Director) and core media player (SlideShowPro Player) are used by tens of thousands of people around the world. Self-install and desktop products are sold through SlideShowPro.net, while SlideShowPro.com (SaaS) provides universal slideshow publishing and content management.
SlideShowPro has been in business for over five years, is fully boot-strapped (not a VC startup), profitable and growing. You would be joining a small, highly motivated software development team where you’ll have significant input in our development process and overall product direction. We’re not just looking for a great coder, but someone who’s passionate about product development and design and can serve as a high-level participant in taking SlideShowPro forward. If you love to code and have a passion for beautiful, functional web applications and software products, we want you.
You’ll work directly with the CTO (our lead developer) and have a direct role in shaping products used on tens of thousands of websites around the world. You’ll be on the front lines implementing new features in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. You’ll also work with our web designers to provide back-end functionality to front-end interfaces, and (like all of us) pitch in with customer support when needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong knowledge of using PHP and MySQL to architect and develop custom content management applications.
- Working knowledge of PHP MVC frameworks, particularly CodeIgniter.
- Top notch skills in standards-based HTML and CSS.
- High level of expertise in JavaScript, including the use of popular frameworks like jQuery.
- Familiarity with data interchange formats like JSON and XML and how they are used in the transport of data from one interface to another.
- Experience using source code versioning systems like Subversion or Git.
- Be a stickler for cross-browser and cross-platform testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated team player.
- The ability and discipline to work remotely and maintain open communication during work hours.
- Must live in the contiguous United States.
- Experience developing interfaces specifically for mobile webkit browsers (iOS, Android, etc).
- Experience using the ImageMagick image processing library and FFmpeg video manipulation library.
- Basic Linux/Unix server administration skills.
- Experience with the nginx web server.
- Experience working on high-traffic/high-bandwidth web applications.
- History of creating and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Experience with test driven development (TDD).
- Experience developing consumer software products.
- Extremely organized and detail oriented.
- Is passionate about “getting it right” in addition to “making it work”.

Skilled Copy Editor Wanted
DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a copy editor who can edit feature articles for content and style. You will need to be able to re-phrase sentences, restructure paragraphs, tighten up the overall article, re-write lead ins and pullout key information into sidebars to create a final article that is engaging and easy-to-read.
You will also need to edit for content. Does the article provide useful, proprietary information for the reader? Does the content of the article answer a question, provide a solution or offer meaningful insight into a key topic that is relevant to our readers? Has the writer interviewed a sufficient number of sources? Has the writer included facts and figures to support the article?
We hope to find a skilled copy editor with whom we can work on an ongoing free-lance basis.
