Science and Engineering Educational Writer
DESCRIPTION:
Want to shape the future of educational publishing? Words & Numbers, a leading developer of educational content, is seeking contract or freelance writers and editors to work on a variety of projects. Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
- writing manuscript for science and engineering education products (print and online), grades 3-college
- editing manuscript for scientific accuracy, tone, and style
- reviewing manuscript for pedagogical appropriateness
- providing feedback to writers
- implementing client revision requests
REQUIREMENTS:
The following qualifications are required:
- a college degree in a scientific field and/or demonstrated ability to produce accurate, precise scientific content
- experience writing and/or editing science content for students and/or teachers
- working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- attention to detail
- ability to think creatively and critically, but also to follow required formatting and style guidelines
- willingness to accept constructive feedback and to work with a team of other writers and editors
- ability to meet deadlines and adhere to project schedules
The following qualifications are preferred, but not required:
- experience teaching science, either formal or informal
- experience working in educational publishing and/or instructional design
- an advanced degree in a scientific field or in education/curriculum & instruction
- experience in and/or knowledge of the use of multimedia and online content in education
Available openings include both freelance positions and in-house, hourly contract positions. All work is project-based. We have an immediate need for candidates with experience in engineering and college introductory biology to work on existing projects.

The ideal candidate will have interactive design experience with strong competency in optimized, web standards complaint, SEO friendly front-end development.
Main focus in HTML & CSS with knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, Illustrator, and some InDesign.)

DESCRIPTION:
Company Presentation: Our company was founded in 2005 from its founders’ passion for games and the success of our first production: ElevezUnDragon.com (Breed a dragon).
A strong and faithful community of fans and gamers alike quickly formed thanks to Feerik’s growing success. It was indeed time to develop new games so as to extend and diversify our network.
Our company is based in Montpellier (south of France). We employ about 20 people working on our games everyday and we are currently recruiting new collaborators. Our young, dynamic and creative team is very close to our gamers and community and work very hard in order to satisfy the player’s needs and desires. In a attempt to expand our community, we have translated our most successful games into several languages (english, spanish, german and italian). The company will be 5 years of age next year and our community counts thousands of active gamers of all ages.
Your mission:
Within the Eredan ITCG team you will create character illustrations, actions and / or Items. You will be led by the project’s artistic department and you will realize illustrations directly related to the graphic bible that has been established. Your style is already close to that of Eredan you’re comfortable with the character design and the dynamics.
Type of Contract : Assignments/ orders for freelancers / could eventually lead to a permanent contract.
Location: Grabels (near Montpellier) / teleworking for freelancers
REQUIREMENTS:
Skills: No specific degree or education is required, motivation, commitment, professionalism and passion are what we are looking for before degrees.
Experience with illustrations on the web or in videogames or comic books would be a bonus but won’t be needed if the individual is passionate, talented and serious.
