Tips For Success
Do you remember that cheer?
S-U-C-C-E-S-S, that’s the way we spell success! How we measure success determines how we achieve it. If you measure success by your checking account or your net worth, you can easily see your progress or your failure on a daily basis. As a freelancer, if you measure success by say time spent with your family, it isn’t as easy to track your progress.
Success is measured many different ways throughout our lifetime. In school it was probably by which group of friends you hung out with. In college, it was probably measured by your sorority or fraternity. In real life, it is sometimes measured by the kind of car you drive or the neighborhood you live in. Depending on what you do as a freelancer or not, success is measured by which office you have, or what your job title is.
The problem with success is that it is usually tied to material possessions and encourages everyone to live beyond their means. We often lose sight of ourselves. I just watched Grown Ups the other night and I laughed, but only because it was true, we have so much technology that we have forgotten how to do anything for ourselves! How often has your life “ended” because your internet connection failed?
Tips for Success:
- Focus on what truly makes you successful. Really look down deep inside of yourself and search for what really makes you happy.
- Map out your strategy for accomplishing this happiness.
- Create a map for your bulletin board with what makes you happy as the destination and all the steps for getting you there around it. Pointing you in the right direction to your success.
- Periodically check in on your success strategy and mesure your progress.
- Become your own personal cheerleader, coach or trainer, whatever you need to forge on toward your success.
Success isn’t monetary,it can be summed up in a quote from Sir Winston Churchill “success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm”. Success should only be measured by you and what you want to achieve and overcome! Freelancers have no one to compare success against, which is good, it will make your achievement of success that much sweeter.

Freelancing is my life. It's what I know, it's what I'm good at, and I can't imagine doing anything else. You can call me "Freddie the Freelancer"… because I'd prefer not to use my real name for reasons that I'll tell you about in a moment.
