Senior Software Engineer

DESCRIPTION:

USA Football is seeking a motivated, disciplined, Senior Software Engineer. The selected individual will be responsible for implementation within a large, distributed web application. This individual must be proactive, able to work independently and a self-starter. Must be comfortable with creative problem solving. This is a telecommuting position.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Code, test and implement web applications
  • Create and integrate distributed services with web application front end
  • Refactor large web application to scale with new features and site growth
  • Data modeling for OLTP relational objects with an eye toward future, non-transactional reporting
  • Tweak application for maximal performance
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements for new feature development
  • Utilize the Rails and Cake frameworks as a basis for development
  • Apply design patterns where appropriate in line with principles such as single responsibility, open/closed, cohesion and substitution
  • Write unit tests
  • Linux administration centering around the deployment and configuration of web applications
  • Occasional Javascript, CSS and HTML tweaking

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Professionalism and team oriented
  • Minimum 5 years experience of web applications development experience
  • Ability to write clear maintainable applications in Ruby, Java, Python or PHP
  • Proven ability to estimate and deliver software on time
  • Modeling software objects and their relations using tenets of OO Design
  • Sound understanding of RDBMSes and logical and physical data modeling
  • Hands-on experience architecting SOAs for web applications
  • Deployment and systems administration experience on Linux systems
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • Work with and respond to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong communications skills
  • Four-year degree
