Once you’ve defined your target audience, the key is to make yourself visible to them.

One method of doing this is to find the websites that they already visit and newsletters they already subscribe to. An hour or two of basic internet research should yield 5-10 sites and/or newsletters that match your target market. Now, your job is to contact each of those sites and newsletters and see if they’d be willing to do one of the following:

1. Review your product or service. If they choose to publish the review, ask them to mention your website and include your link.

2. Exchange recommendations for each other’s product or service. Now you’ve each reached a whole new list of potential customers.

3. Arrange for co-registration on your email sign-up forms. Allow visitors of both sites to sign-up for each of your lists.

4. Accept guest articles for their site or newsletter. Your bio should include a link to direct people back to your site.

5. Allow you to contribute to their blog as an “expert”. Again, your by-line should contain a link to your website. If your posts are high quality they will increase readership in the blog which is a win-win for both of you.

6. Recommend your product or service on commission. Set up a link that lets you track any sales that come from the other site.

7. Accept paid advertising on their site. Though this can be costly, it can also be an effective way to reach your target market.
