Designer
DESCRIPTION:
Who we are
Jestro is a small company, bootstrapped and based in beautiful Boise, Idaho. We are currently focused on building two products: The Theme Foundry and Memberful (still in development). If you want to read more about our story see The last 3 years.
Who you are
You are a smart and talented designer who cares about the details and wants to be an important part of a small team.
What you’ll be working on
The bulk of your work will be centered around curating and building our WordPress theme collection. Your theme designs will be used by thousands of customers on websites around the world. You’ll feel humbled and proud each time you stumble across one of your designs on the web. You’ll blush when a customer emails to say they are in love with your theme.
You will never worry about rushing unfinished work out the door or making sacrifices to please clients. Each and every theme you design will be handcrafted from scratch with love and care. From the initial sketches to the final touches you’ll be focused on simplicity, beauty, and function.
While theme design will be your priority, you’ll always have a few different design projects on your plate. You might be cooking up a new UI feature for Memberful, sketching out an idea for an improved checkout screen, or rethinking the design of our theme product pages.
Make a big difference
Our current team is made up of two founders and a handful of contractors. This means you will be one of our first full-time employees and have a huge hand in helping shape our young company. It also means you won’t be bored. Much of your time will be spent designing, but you will also be: helping out in our support forums, writing and editing documentation, posting to our blog, and answering customer service emails.
REQUIREMENTS:
We don’t have any specific experience requirements, but you should have a demonstrated understanding of typography, color, and proportion. You must be a great writer and love crafting words as much as you love crafting interfaces. You must be proficient with HTML / CSS and enjoy writing well-structured markup. Basic PHP and JavaScript skills are a bonus, but not required.
Tools
Some of the tools and technology we currently use include: Apple computers, Textmate, Illustrator, Photoshop, Github, Basecamp, Campfire, Dropbox.
Benefits
- You won’t have a manager.
- Competitive salary and revenue sharing opportunities.
- Comprehensive benefits (Health, Dental, Retirement).
- Work from home or wherever you work best.
- Take vacation whenever you need it.
- Trip to WordCamp San Francisco once per year.
- Trip to one other conference of your choice.
