DESCRIPTION:

Our company is an established internet marketing company that has been in business for over two years. We are looking for someone who is extremely skilled in optimized PHP and MySQL development, and can create and maintain web applications with hundreds of thousands of unique visitors on a daily basis.

You will be working on a set monthly salary for a set amount of hours a month for us. If we need more hours and you can provide, you will be paid extra on an hourly basis. We will start out your term for a 5-month period, and will then assess our situation and extend the term.

So what do we expect from you?

We want you to take on these projects and your responsibilities with passion and innovation, not only to fulfill the requirements, but to think of ways you can make your work and our projects better than we had hoped. We want someone who will treat their job and their position at our company as if they were running their own company they had slaved over for two years to establish.

So what exactly are the responsibilities?

You will become the leader of our development team. You will be expected to take a project idea, work with us as we break it down into components and classes, and then develop those classes and components and work them into the full, completed project.

You will be coding in PHP on a LAMP platform. The PHP needs to be clean, OOP, and extremely optimized; these projects will get hundreds of thousands of hits a day. Optimization is absolutely key.

You will be working with MySQL, creating databases, optimizing them, and interacting with them through PHP and MySQLi. You should be proficient with database design, normalization, replication, and scaling.

You are expected to have your work done on time. While we are relaxed, we do not tolerate laziness or late projects.

You should have experience and a deep understanding of OOP, Design Patterns, and designing web applications from the ground up.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • deep understanding of efficient MySQL
  • impressive understanding of scaling and creating high performing web applications
  • ability to architect and design web applications from scratch
  • experience with caching and/or reverse proxies
  • Strong OOP and software design ability; able to develop systems that meet architectural objectives including reusable, scalable code
  • Able to prioritize, execute and deliver projects on time
  • Profile and optimize code and queries for performance
  • Expertise in PHP OOP and Design Patterns
  • Ability to analyze systems and make intelligent engineering decisions based on your research
  • Knowledge of Linux and using/configuring servers for the web and MySQL
  • Experience with Apache and nginx
  • BONUS: good with HTML, CSS, jQuery, and Graphic Design.

  • 4-7 years of work experience designing web applications
  • previous experience creating a high-traffic, highly scalable web application
  • a portfolio or personal projects or past work
  • experience working with and designing APIs
