Bilingual Freelance Writer (Spanish/English)

SMG Publishing is the publisher of business to business trade magazines. Corporate executives have come to rely on us to help them stay competitive in their own markets. Every month, we profile dozens of successful companies and business leaders.
We are currently looking for a talented freelance writer who is business bilingual in Spanish and English. The ideal candidate will have experience interviewing business executives in Spanish and writing profiles about successful companies in North America and Latin America. This is a freelance opportunity.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications:
- Detail and deadline oriented
- Fluent in both English and Spanish – speaking, reading, and writing
- Ability to translate articles from Spanish to English and vice versa
- Experience speaking with business executives of Spanish speaking companies
- At least 2 years of reporting or editing experience, preferably in business media

Lead Developer
DESCRIPTION:
Application Description: Threshold is a web-based application that tackles the needs of the construction industry by rapidly improving the communication and documentation process. We believe elegant design and intuitive UI isn’t just for typical web 2.0 companies.
What we’re looking for: A great software engineer with strong web development skills. You must have some experience in building dynamic web apps with, PHP, jQuery, Ruby on Rails, Python etc. This position will touch on all aspects of our app including back-end and front-end coding (strong JS skills a must), database management and optimization, and deployment and server administration. A keen eye for design is a plus.
What you’re looking for: To join a small and focused team that’s looking to revolutionize an old and antiquated industry. You’re not looking to build the next flash-in-the-pan social media site. You want to build a real company with real revenue potential.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent knowledge of PHP and jQuery.
- Experience with a dynamic languages like Ruby or Python.
- Strong background in CSS and Javascript
- MySQL experience.
- Linux experience, and setting up webservers with apache or nginx.
- Comfortable with merchant processing integration (braintree) a plus.
Requirements: All applicants must submit URLs to dynamic websites that they have built. Any submissions without examples of previous work will be disregarded. We are particularly interested in strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to iterate and build things quickly. This is a start-up, and being able to rapidly prototype and build out new features is critical.
Current Stage: The site is close to full functionality and is nearing the Beta testing stage. The design for the website is being finalized and has started to be implemented. This position will include Beta testing through initial launch and beyond.
Location: Applicant will be working remotely. Founders are in the Bay Area and Southern California.

Senior User Interface Designer
DESCRIPTION:
About us:
We’re a small start-up comprised of other freelance creatives. We design and develop Premium WordPress Themes and Website Templates. We’re smart, down to earth, and our products are selling like hot cakes.
Your Role:
- Establish a clean, modern, elegant look/feel for upcoming WordPress theme.
- Design 6 page layouts based on the approved look/feel (homepage, blog page, (2) content pages, portfolio page, contact page)
- Design misc. elements like (interface tabs, search boxes, buttons, etc)
REQUIREMENTS:
About you:
You have multiple years of experience designing beautiful website interfaces. You’re a pixel-perfectionist with a soft spot for clean, modern, and elegant web design. You are passionate about your work and your design abilities are nothing short of amazing.
You may be able to code things out on the front-end, but if not, you have a solid understanding of how front-end code (HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX) is employed to translate visual designs into interactive digital experiences.
