A self-motivated, honest, innovative designer with unmatched communication skills. You have enough experience to understand the level of commitment, organization and passion required to survive in this industry, but realize that you haven’t arrived and are still hungry to grow.

You have sick UI skills, a passion for color and typography, and exhibit a well-rounded base of design experience. You realize that each project is unique and requires more than simply applying a ‘style’ to the problem. You are interested in trends (but not too influenced by them) and are excited to design for the next big device. You realize that mobile is the future and are committed to learning new platforms, techniques and environments. You are also aware of the development process and understand how to prepare your files to hand-off to a developer (or you know how to code yourself). Front-end development skills are a plus.

Additionally, you are able to receive direction as well as critique in a humble, yet confident way that pushes the entire team to grow.

Web Designer/Developer

DESCRIPTION:

We’re in need of a designer/developer who can work with Encaffeinated, Inc. on a specific client project. We have a long-term client who wants to turn their website into an iPad offline app. The client is beginning to distribute iPads to their sales folks as sales tools and entering into the world of apps-as-sales-tools. In this case, they often sell into environments with no network or wireless access (hospitals, for instance). Because of this, we need their website wrapped as an HTML5 offline app. Its a large site, so it can’t be as simple as “add to home screen”, this must be a bona fide offline app using HTML5.

We imagine this contract will likely entail:

  • Assessing the current site functionality and recommending optimizations to the site for this special version
  • Assessing UI to recommend optimizations for the touch interface and screen size
  • Updating site HTML templates/CSS files to prepare site for offline usage
  • Wrapping site in whichever framework/tools that will allow it to be packaged for private app store delivery
  • Setup of private app store
  • Testing/QA/delivery

REQUIREMENTS:

The person we’d like to have for this contract will:

  • Have done this sort of thing before, more than once
  • Consider themselves a pro at this type of work
  • Be concerned with web standards, good design and usability
  • Be located in the US (sorry, client requirement, not ours)
  • Be available to begin working in the next 30 days, and begin discussing the project immediately

Sr. Java Developer

DESCRIPTION:

Informz Inc. is currently searching for an experienced Sr. Software Developer with strong Java coding skills and work experience to develop and maintain NBC’s on-air automation software; NBC’s primary on-air scheduling software; and NBC’s workflow software.NBC/Universal includes the broadcast network, as well as cable properties such as USA, Bravo, Syfy, Sleuth, MS-NBC, and CNBC.

NBC/Universal also distributes material through outlets such as nbc.com, iTunes, Video on Demand, and Hulu. You will work on a small and experienced team (currently six people) who write and maintain these mission-critical applications almost exclusively for this multi-billion dollar company. Although we are a small team we have significant responsibilities, and the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate that they are self-motivated and responsible.

  • Must be able to learn and adapt quickly to NBC’s business environment and our existing technical platforms.

  • Must be able to use multiple technologies effectively, and to be adept at learning new ones.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • Strong Java coding skills
  • Minimum 5 years Java experience with notable accomplishments
  • Hibernate, GWT and Relational Databases a plus
  • SQL (esp. Oracle) a plus
  • CSS and User Interface Design a plus
  • Groovy a plus
