Interaction Designer

DESCRIPTION:

At Bandzoogle, we build tools that help bands succeed online. Our app powers tens of thousands of artist websites and helps them make a living by selling their music and growing their fan base. We’ve been “bootstrapped, profitable, and proud” since 2003 and are growing fast.

As our design lead, you’ll own the visual Bandzoogle experience — from the front end to emails to the UX of the app. We’ve recently revamped our entire codebase to Rails 3 — now we need you to revamp the look of our app from the ground up.

Aside from Bandzoogle, we’re building some super-cool new web services for musicians. You’ll play a key role in creating the UIs and branding for these new products.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for an experienced interaction designer who can:

  • Create a strong, unified look and feel for Bandzoogle and new products in the pipeline.
  • Take Balsamiq mockups and make them into beautiful, functional UIs.
  • Build working models in HTML/CSS.
  • Design for the web on both desktop and mobile devices.
  • Occasionally do some traditional “design” (schwag, print ads, etc).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A strong, varied web design portfolio including UI/UX.
  • Able to create clean, cross platform HTML/CSS.
  • Up to date with the latest tools and standards (HTML5, CSS3, etc.)
  • Productive in a distributed team environment. Our 10-member team is spread across Canada, UK and USA; we work where we love to be.
  • This isn’t a coding position, but being able to work around Ruby on Rails code and integrate jQuery is a plus.
