Web Designer

DESCRIPTION:

Democracy Fund is a new advocacy organization that fights the influence of special interests in politics. Online grassroots organizing is the foundation of our strategy. We are building a platform for activists to learn, organize, and act. We are seeking a freelance web designer or design shop to help us build this platform’s visual identity and user experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

Our ideal candidate has:

  • A strong commitment to good government, preferably with a background in advocacy or grassroots organizing
  • A passion for web standards and usability
  • Demonstrated expertise in building elegant, efficient interfaces for social web applications
  • Expertise in HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery
  • Experience with the Django template language (not required, but a definite plus)

Your tasks will include:

  • Participating in the development of a visual identity to reflect the organization’s goals
  • Working closely with the Online Director to produce wireframes and mockups
  • Collaborating with our development and content teams to build prototypes, respond to feedback, and iterate quickly
  • Deploying the project in tandem with the organization’s public launch

We are on an aggressive timeline. You must be able to begin immediately and work quickly; flexibility and responsiveness are key. We are also seeking a designer for offline materials. This contract carries the potential to be extended to include print design.

Our offices are based in Florence, MA, Boston, and Washington, DC. Working remotely is not a problem as long as you’re prompt and reliable.

  • This position requires an understanding of call center operations and experienced contact centers use of technology.
  • Knowledge of complex call routing and screen pop technology is also important.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with business leaders, IT staff and management in responding to call center technology issues as well as participation in strategic planning and project work.
