Looking for a flexible job? You’re not alone. Surveys suggest that 80% of workers view the option to work remotely as a serious job perk. The good news is that more and more companies are willingly offering up these sorts of benefits.
FlexJobs, a paid jobs listing site, recently released a new list of the 250 top companies hiring in flexible job positions. The site defines a “flexible job” as a professional-level position that includes either telecommuting options, flexible scheduling, part-time work, and/or a freelance component.
The list was compiled using data from over 40,000 companies and their employment posting history on FlexJobs since the site began in 2013. The number of flexible jobs posted in their database grew 75% from 2013 to 2015, the site reported.
“The landscape of flexible work has evolved dramatically since I founded FlexJobs, and it’s important to celebrate how much progress companies have made towards work flexibility in recent years,” said CEO Sara Sutton Fell in a statement. “Professional, viable flexible jobs are now available across a wide variety of industries and at all career-levels, which is due both to companies hearing their employees’ demands for work flexibility, as well as employers themselves recognizing the many benefits.”
Some of the top hiring companies on the “FlexJobs 250” list include temp staff agency Kelly Services, HR firm Robert Half International, IBM, Dell, ATandT, Wells Fargo, Xerox, and more.
Further research also reveals that approximately 80% of all companies today offer flexible working arrangements of some kind, and 58% of companies report profit gains after implementing such programs.
FlexJobs reports that the top industry sectors for flexible job postings were in medical and health; HR and recruiting; computer and IT; and education and training.
“Technological advancements, such as Wi-Fi, smartphones, and the availability of high-speed Internet, along with generational changes, have largely driven the rise of flexibility in the workforce,” the report reads. “Today, flexibility is a top feature employees look for in a job with the majority of workers willing to change jobs, change careers, or give up a promotion to achieve better work-life balance.”
