We all understand the law. It’s the rules and regulations that govern society. Many leave the law in the hands of those trained in it. However, this shouldn’t be the case. The YouTube video “Why do you need basic legal knowledge” highlights this point. Every member of society has rights assigned at birth.
These include, among others, freedom of speech, movement, and freedom from discrimination. Just as the law governs the public, it also regulates the rights of the individuals in that society. One person’s actions may infringe on the rights of another.
Knowing Your Rights and Protecting the Rights of Others
Law governs every area of society. From business to private. Try to imagine going out with friends. The evening ends at the local bar. However, the bartender tries to prevent one person from entering. Why? Well, because they have purple hair. This is a prime example of why it’s important to have basic law knowledge.
Similarly, imagine going into business with an old friend from high school. Someone very safe and familiar. During the course of the agreement, the other party tries to lay claim to the entire business. What does a person do? Having basic knowledge of the law may help in everyday scenarios like these.
